Allowing Ideas to Flourish

Inspiration.

There’s something about conceiving a new craft that excites me. It can be writing on a topic that interests me, drawing a picture, taking a photograph of something beautiful, painting a flower, making a candle; these are all things that I am passionate about.

But, having the chance to help design an invitation, or merchandise a storefront, or decorate for a tea party or special event, these are also things that animate me.

And this is what I will share with you here. Stay tuned from time to time as I post, randomly, in my Creative Calling segment.

Walking the Beach

Inspiration.

Walking the beach, watching the waves roll in, the foam suspended on the shoreline like the soap suds from an overflowing washing machine; my thoughts go to what an awesome God we serve and how blessed I am to witness such magic unfurl.

The ocean reveals its treasures in washed up shells, pieces of beach glass, broken chunks of driftwood and rock chunks that are some smooth and others shell-encased. I can’t help but wonder where they’ve all been, how long they’ve rolled back and forth across the ocean’s floor until arriving on the beach for someone like me to witness their allure.

Sharing an Afternoon with Friends & Family

Inspiration.

The talk sometimes light, sometimes deep. The company fulfilling. The reason doesn’t have to be anything special. Times shared with family and friends is a creative outlet all on its own.

Ideas and good-times flow. Where have they been? What have they been doing? What do they have planned for the future? Who are we celebrating today? It’s all a delight to my soul.

…a cheerful heart has a continual feast.

Doing for Others

Inspiration.

I belong to a women’s organization that fund raises for the charity we are a part of. We hold several big events throughout the year and each time we become galvanized to put a new spin on our key events. To contrive something creative and fun that will continue to draw more guests each year.

Pooled together in our planning sessions, we come armed with new ideas and possibilities and then tie them together to inspire our patrons to want to come, to want to give and at the same time to be entertained and be fulfilled in their own doing for others.

…Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. ~1 Peter 4:11

Finding the Beautiful

Inspiration.

Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Looking Forward

Inspiration.

Sometimes I don’t know when inspiration will strike. But strike it does and often in strange places and odd times of the day or night. The struggle is real to carpe diem. Pray I will take every opportunity to use those times and available resources to create. To build. To engage.

I look forward to sharing more with you in the future as I experiment with whatever creative inspirations come my way. Until we meet again…May “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.
