It’s a new day, a new year, a new decade! As I look down at the time on my computer screen, I see it’s 12:00 p.m., 1/1/2020, twelve hours have already gone by in the new year, and I am filled with anticipation! What will this new year, this new decade bring?
I’m facing forward and with a new outlook at how I plan to make this next decade a more thoughtful, more purposeful, more spirit filled one.
I have this scripture above my keyboard that I look at pretty much every time I log in to my computer. I’ve been taking it for granted, not letting it sink in or give meaning to my thoughts.
Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noonday. ~Psalm 37:3-6
Sure, I allow it to inspire me and it gives me hope. But, I haven’t really been TRUSTING. If I had, I wouldn’t be so scared. I would believe in myself. I would TRUST that it all turns out in the end. No matter what. And that I’m allowed to make mistakes. As long as I get right back up and try again. I’d allow myself to continue to make mistakes as long as I also trusted to learn from them and allow them to steer me forward and to a better future. A future filled with new knowledge. New talents. New skills. New confidence.
And, I’d TRUST HIM. Because without Him, it’s meaningless. That trust brings new confidence. And it’s invigorating! Inspiring. Hopeful.
But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works. ~ Psalm 73:28
And so, 2020, here I come!
- I will start my day devoting time spent with the Lord my God
- I will trust that He will be with me every step of the way
- I will allow myself to fail, to make mistakes, but will also pick myself back up and learn from them
- I will be present; Focus; Invite Clarity
- I will be the best I can be and not take anything for granted
- I will commit my ways to the LORD
- I will refrain from trivial pursuits
- I will strive to be a positive role model and a good friend
- I will pursue projects and goals that challenge me
- I will embrace Grace
And so, I look ahead and I am filled with hope and renewed Trust. I hope you’ll walk along with me and together may we delight in this new year, this new decade, filled with trust and purpose; filled with light and love. ~Dale
